I’m quite a fan of solo RPGs and wargames as you may have determined, so it was only natural to try out ‘Five Leagues’. Rather than try to grab a bunch of 28mm things, I thought I’d try rescaled figures in 10mm!

Clearly, it was neccesary to have some heroes and some villains, so after the appropriate setup was rolled for the party and various groups of nefarious NPCs were created, the first few (!) battles were against skeletons.

Some simple contrast paints got these figures table-ready extremely quickly:

When they’re on the tabletop, they look really fantastic – a 3×3 table looks positively huge:

One of the fiends in this mini campaign was a Minotaur, and by gosh the fight looked epic:

Realistically, I found that the best part about 5 Leagues was all the book-keeping before and after the actual tabletop game, which itself I found a little lacklustre. I know that some gamers prefer to use Melee and/or Wizard rules for combat, systems more akin to a standard RPG – but I never got that far and the impetus fizzled out relatively quickly!
